About Employment

For academic year 2010 the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Technology of Shinshu University seeks young researchers to participate in the Young Researcher Empowerment Project. The project has the following features.

• Candidate is recruited worldwide seeking a future leader in each field of research.
• The appointment is for tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The period of the appointment is from April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2015. The annual salary is 6.2 million yen (approximately $63,000) fixed during the appointment.
• The researchers on the project will be provided with individual research space and will work independently from senior faculty members to pursue their own research project.
• To ensure independent research activities, each researcher on the project will be supported by a 6.0 million yen (approximately $61,000) start-up fund in the first year and 3.0 million yen (approximately $30,000) research fund in the second year (The amount of research fund will vary depending on the field of research and on fiscal budgets approved.) Some travel fund will be provided to assist international academic conference participation.
• Teaching load of two courses a year and research supervision of graduate and senior undergraduate students are expected.
